Menopause and Fatigue.
Does that spot under you desk look
tempting for a nap in the afternoon? Do you barely finish the dinner
dishes before you hop into bed for the night? Wonder where your get up and
go went?
Look to fluctuating hormone levels for your answer. Fatigue is one of the
most common menopause symptoms. Fatigue puts pressure on your work, your
home life, and your relationships - all adding up to stress making you
less able to cope with the demands of your changing body.
Along with lifestyle changes, one menopause herb you can take is Siberian
ginseng (one of the many menopause supporting ingredients in our Preserve
formula). Siberian Ginseng is a medicinal herb used primarily for
increased stamina and for boosting the immune system and immune system
responses. It is used to help relieve fatigue and declining capacity to
work. It is thought to help improve memory; concentration, and increase
longevity.

Sleep deprivation is one of the most
obvious causes of fatigue. Hot flashes and night sweats interrupt your
sleep. Thyroid function and melatonin synthesis, both important to normal
sleep, are often affected by the changes in endocrine function in
menopause. All of the menopause symptom sleep disturbances are helped
either by our menopause natural remedy line or our Return to Eden
progesterone cream.
Diet is also a leading culprit of fatigue. The low-fat, high-carbohydrate
diet followed by many women is a metabolic nightmare. Sugars and simple
carbohydrates release high levels of insulin, which leads to low blood
sugar. Not only is low blood sugar the chemical basis of fatigue, recent
diet research implicates insulin in weight gain and the inability to loose
weight. Millions of American women and men have become insulin-resistant
which leads to diabetes and heart disease as well as weight gain.
Caffeine also plays into the mix. When menopause fatigue hits, most women
reach for a caffeinated soda or cup of coffee. Caffeine triggers the
release of adrenaline, which further upsets the insulin-sugar balance.
Sugars and simple carbohydrates tax the body consuming critical nutrients
like B vitamins that are needed for healthy cellular function. B vitamin
deficiency is one of the leading causes of fatigue (another ingredient in
our Preserve formula).
The lack of healthy fat and protein also causes problems. Without those
nutrients, hormonal balance is further compromised and fatigue is the
result. Estrogen, for example, is synthesized from cholesterol.
This is not to say you should head for the fast food burger line. Fats may
be replaced with healthful oils like flaxseed oil which is said to be as
effective as HRT in lessening hot flashes and sweating. Protein should be
lean meats, poultry or soy products like tofu.
A good diet, good night's sleep and our menopause treatment products =
victory over fatigue!
