NEW!! NEW!!! BIG DRUG COMPANIES
USING THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION IN AN ATTEMPT TO DESTROY COMPETITION FROM
NATURAL HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPIES!!!
Do you remember our newsletter
last year detailing how Wyeth Pharmaceuticals was attempting to stop
compounding pharmacists from prescribing natural progesterone (diosgenin)
after their profits fell by more than 57% from $2.07 billion in 2003 to
$800 million in 2004 (after the WHI study had to be stopped)?
Well, now they have gone after
centers like ours making complaints to the Federal Trade Commission
(FTC). The FTC's position backed by the big pharmaceutical companies is
that Dr. John Lee, M.D.'s studies were not scientific and did not rise to
the standard of FDA and National Institutes of Health studies, and that
our claims about natural progesterone are false, unfair, deceptive,
misleading advertising in violation of the law..
(Please read
what Dr. Helen Pensanti M.D. has to say about this. Read on to how the study
was conducted.)
This is an attempt to force women into taking
unsafe proven cancer causing synthetic hormones using
your tax dollar to harass natural hormone suppliers. We here at the Women's
Menopause Health Center refuse to take away your choice of a healthy
alternative to Premarin, Prempro and the other dangerous drugs. We are
taking a stand against this heavy handed attempt to destroy competition. We
are going to fight for your choice of a healthy way to get through menopause
comfortably and safely.
(Ed. note: This was from our newsletter last year. The
continued harassment by the FTC has caused us to discontinue our wonderful
product. DO NOT be forced
into taking something that can kill you. You may purchase safe
progesterone cream at your local health food store, or find it a lot less
expensively on line at places like ebay and yahoo stores.
Do not let these heavy handed tactics destroy your health!)

With the significantly increased side effects occurrence of uterine
cancer associated with the estrogen-only hormone replacement therapy
drug medications, this drug medication is most commonly prescribed
to women who have undergone a hysterectomy.
Combination hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a mixture of
estrogen and progesterone, given on a cyclical schedule to mimic a
menstrual cycle. Women who still have a uterus are typically
prescribed the combination progesterone and estrogen treatment.
Doctors often prescribe estrogen hormone replacement therapy to
supplement declining levels in a woman’s body. Doctors might also
prescribe estrogen replacement therapy to prevent osteoporosis,
though current studies show that estrogen hormone replacement
therapy drugs and medication do not offer positive effects
osteoporosis in the long run.
Estrogen Hormone Replacement Therapy Risk
and Side Effects:
Synthetic estrogen hormone replacement therapy drugs increase health
risk and have side effects that range from bothersome to
life-threatening.
Long-term side effects of women taking estrogen hormone replacement
therapy drugs include the development of blood-clotting disorders,
liver cancer, kidney cancer, high blood pressure, glucose
intolerance or worsening of the disease in diabetic patients,
unusual sensitivity to the sun, and high blood levels of calcium.
Study after study show that women using synthetic estrogen hormone
replacement therapy drugs and medication are at a greater risk for
breast cancer, and uterine cancer.
Estrogen hormone replacement therapy drugs increases the risk of
endometrial cancer in postmenopausal women five to 14 fold, depend
upon the duration of treatment and the dose of estrogen hormone
replacement therapy.
Postmenopausal women taking estrogen hormone replacement therapy
have a two to three times greater side effects risk of developing
gall-bladder disease.
Some studies also link synthetic estrogen hormone drug medications
used in estrogen hormone replacement therapy to Chronic Fatigue
Syndrome, impaired thyroid and many other symptoms and diseases.
Women with a family history of breast cancer breast or abnormal
mammograms should not take estrogen hormone replacement therapy
medication.
Estrogen hormone replacement therapy drugs are not recommended for
women with a history of breast or uterine cancer, obesity, diabetes,
or a history of clotting or vascular disorders.
Women with active thrombophlebitis or any other disorder associated
with the formation of blood clots should not take estrogen hormone
replacement therapy medication drugs.
It is recommended that you should see your doctor at least twice a
year to assess current health and the need to continue the estrogen
hormone replacement therapy medication if taking estrogen hormone
replacement therapy drugs for an extended period of time.
If experiencing side effects of recurrent, abnormal, or persistent
vaginal bleeding while taking estrogen hormone replacement therapy
drug medication, contact your doctor immediately.
The problem with synthetic estrogen hormone replacement therapy is
that the human body does not have all the necessary mechanisms
needed to metabolize these drug medications.
The human female body produces six different estrogens. Three of
these estrogen hormones - estradiol, estrone, and estriol - are
present in large amounts with estradiol the most potent of the
three.
Synthetic estrogen hormone replacement therapy derived from horse
urine - as found in Premarin and other estrogen hormone replacement
therapy drugs - consists of estrone, equilin, estradiol and two
other equine estrogens.
It is believed that equilin, which is not identical to the estrogen
the human body makes, is the culprit with liver disease and many
other estrogen hormone replacement therapy side effects. While the
female body contains the enzymes and cofactors needed to process
human estrogen, it has none of the enzymes and cofactors required to
metabolize equilin.
HRT Natural Alternatives:
With synthetic estrogen hormone replacement therapy drugs and
medication posing a risk with serious side effects, women are well
suited to find safe and healthy HRT natural alternatives to replace
the estrogen medication, patches, cream.
Women with measurable
low estrogen levels tend to have high cholesterol, low blood
pressure, depression, foggy thinking and memory, thinning scalp hair
and thickening facial hair.
HRT natural alternatives include herbal remedies, nutritional
supplements, exercise programs, diet modifications, homeopathy,
acupuncture and lifestyle changes. The HRT natural
alternatives Return to Eden and Eternal-In for perimenopause and menopause contain a formula that
incorporates herbal blends, homeopathic remedies and nutritional
support.
Stopping Hormone Replacement Therapy:
Stopping estrogen
hormone replacement therapy medication suddenly can cause a
return of hot flashes and night sweats. The return of these
menopause symptoms are less likely if the estrogen hormone
replacement therapy medication dose is decreased gradually over a
period of several months while starting an HRT natural alternatives
regime.
Estrogen Hormone Replacement Therapy Drugs;
Tablets, Patches and Creams:
Women choosing to use estrogen hormone replacement therapy should
take the lowest possible dosage for menopause symptoms. Estrogen
hormone replacement therapy is available in patches, tablet form,
vaginal creams, ring inserts, tablet inserts, implants and
injections.
It is important to note that all forms of estrogen hormone
replacement therapy pose risk and side effects. Additionally,
vaginal estrogen creams may stimulate uterine bleeding, vaginal
discharge or withdrawal bleeding is discontinued suddenly. The use
of vaginal estrogen hormone replacement cream can also cause breast
tenderness.
The Climara patch is a estrogen replacement therapy medication that
offers low doses of estrogen. The Climara patch sends 0.025 mg of
estrogen - half the amount of the next highest dose - through the
skin and into the bloodstream daily. Studies show that using lower
doses of estrogen replacement therapy drugs as found in patches are
more tolerable for some women.
Despite the lower dose of estrogen drugs in the Climara patch, there
is still an increased risk of some cancers and side effects for
women taking estrogen hormone replacement therapy drugs.
