last year detailing how Wyeth Pharmaceuticals was attempting to stop
compounding pharmacists from prescribing natural progesterone (diosgenin)
after their profits fell by more than 57% from $2.07 billion in 2003 to
$800 million in 2004 (after the WHI study had to be stopped)?
Well, now they have gone after
centers like ours making complaints to the Federal Trade Commission
(FTC). The FTC's position backed by the big pharmaceutical companies is
that Dr. John Lee, M.D.'s studies were not scientific and did not rise to
the standard of FDA and National Institutes of Health studies, and that
our claims about natural progesterone are false, unfair, deceptive,
misleading advertising in violation of the law..

The hormone replacement therapy pill used by researchers in the recent
National Institutes of Health studies uses molecules not found
naturally in humans. In fact, the best-selling hormone replacement
therapy pill contains horse hormones extracted from horse urine. It is
marketed under the pharmaceutical name of Premarin.
Prempro consists of Premarin and Provera. The hormone from horse urine
is not compatible with the human body and increases health risks. Risk
of cancer, heart disease, and other serious conditions is high when
synthetic hormones like Premarin and Prempro are ingested.
Before you start taking
Premarin,
Prempro or any other synthetic
hormones, carefully consider the harmful effects on women's health.
The
large-scale Women's Health Initiative study released in 2002 show
that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is linked to substantial
increases in the risk of developing breast cancer, heart disease,
strokes and blood clots. Additionally, when estrogen is prescribed
alone, it can increase the risk of ovarian cancer.
You might be wondering why pharmaceutical companies would develop a
pill that would most certainly harm the human body. Sadly, the answer
is money.
Pharmaceutical companies cannot patent natural plant-based hormones so
there is no financial incentive to market safe hormones for the human
body. Instead, dangerous HRT formulas are developed from horse urine
and lab-formulated synthetic progestins and estrogens. It’s a system
with deadly side-effects built in.
Women looking for hormone replacement need to look for bio-identical
hormone therapy that copies the exact estrogen balance that's been
keeping women healthy since the beginning of time.
