Menopause and Perimenopause Bath and Beauty Recipes.

Hair Conditioning Clay.

 

1/4 cup jojoba oil
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 tablespoons white clay (kaolin or China clay)
1/2 cup water.

Heat together the jojoba and coconut oils until the coconut oil has melted. This takes only 1 to 2 minutes. Combine the melted oils with the clay and water, stir well, then pour into a clean container.

To use: Wet hair and pour a small amount into your palm (about 1 tablespoon). Massage thoroughly into your hair and scalp. Wrap your head with plastic and cover with a towel turban style. Let the conditioner set on your hair for 10-15 minutes, then shampoo as usual. You may have to shampoo twice to remove the conditioner. If the mixture separates between uses, simply run hot water over the closed container to remelt the coconut oil and shake gently to mix.

This is a rich conditioning hair treatment that can be used before shampooing your hair instead of having to wait and get back in the shower again. It acts as a deep cleanser and adds body and bounce to fine or limp hair. Jojoba bean oil has become very popular recently, because it is very similar to our bodies' own natural oils. It is easily found in many natural food stores.
