Folate and complex carbohydrates help to ward off depression, so foods like whole-grain
pasta, greens and salmon are "feel-good" nutrients. These foods boost your mood and affect
the delicate balance of chemicals in the brain known as neurotransmitters. The following depression-busting recipe served with a tossed salad and warm Italian bread provides for a serotonin-boosting,
mood warming meal.



"Depression Lifting" Tuscan-Style Linguine.



1/2 pound whole grain linguine.
1 pound chopped fresh tomatoes (about 2 cups).
1/2 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes.
3/4 cup yellow bell pepper, cut into 2 inch long strips.
1/2 cup packed fresh, chopped basil leaves.
1 clove minced garlic.
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley.
2 ounces crumbled gorgonzola cheese.
2 ounces crumbled, fat-free feta cheese.

Cook linguine according to package directions. Toss tomatoes, bell pepper, basil, garlic,
parsley and cheeses in a large bowl. Add hot cooked linguine to the bowl, and toss until
gorgonzola begins to melt.

Serves 4.
