Regularity.
"Arthritis, cancer, colitis, Crohn's Disease,
diverticulitis, gallstones, headaches, heart disease, hiatal hernia,
high blood pressure, hypoglycemia, obesity, ulcers and many other
diseases may have their origin in the colon".
These are the words of the late Dr. Bernard Jensen, one of the foremost
American authorities on the subject of digestion, colon health and
holistic wellness in the twentieth century. Due in part to his
pioneering efforts, many medical experts today agree that most illness
begins in the colon and that the colon may be the single most critical
organ in the body.

Colon-Aid+ Ingredients and Dosage |
As the colon becomes a stagnant cesspool, failing
to move the poisons from food waste out of the body on a regular basis,
the toxins back up. It is estimated that - there are 36 different
poisons that come from the colon, and as these accumulate in the bowel
over a period of weeks, months or often years, they spread into your
liver, gall bladder and other organs; into your blood; into your tissues
and finally into your cells.
Why Is It Important to Be Regular?
The colon is the starting place for most disease in the body, including
cancer (and not just colon cancer, but many if not all cancers). The
colon is the sewage system or "septic tank of the body" where, if it is
not properly cared for, a large volume of toxins (or poisons) accumulate
until it becomes a foul cesspool
It is worth repeating: Most degenerative diseases start in the colon,
due to a build-up of poisons which back up and eventually spread
throughout the entire body. Digestive disorders account for the largest
amount of lost time from work; they are the number one cause of
disability absence; they comprise one-sixth of all hospital admissions.
It is acknowledged by conventional medicine that at least 40 percent of
all cancers originate in the gastrointestinal tract. Many alternative
practitioners would say the number is much higher.
There is a wide discrepancy between conventional and complementary
health communities concerning what constitutes regular bowel movements.
Dr. Jensen and many contemporary experts conclude that 2 to 3 bowel
movements a day are ideal for health maintenance.
As the entire body is weakened from these toxins, degenerative diseases
can break out at some weak point in the body. illnesses which result
from a clogged, sluggish or otherwise improperly functioning colon can
include:
. Colon and other cancers
. Hiatal hernia, peptic and gastric ulcers
. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Colitis, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's
. GERD (Gamo-esophageal Reflux Disease)
. Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis
. Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue
. Cardiovascular Diseases.
. Migraines and pressure headaches
. Diabetes and other blood sugar problems
. Intestinal and genital yeast overgrowth
. Food Allergies and Food Intolerance
. Acne, Dermatitis, Eczema and other skin conditions
. Irritability, Anxiety, Depression
. Recurring infections
The National Institutes of Health reports constipation as being one of
the most common gastrointestinal complaints nationally. It is estimated
that constipation (classified as 3 or more days without a bowel
movement) affects over 4 million Americans per year, to the tune of2.5
million doctor visits and approximately $725 million dollars spent on
over-the-counter laxatives.
Through improper diet and nutrition, poor digestion, chronic
constipation, stress, etc., the colon (or bowels) for most Americans
begins to malfunction sometimes as early as the teen years or twenties
(and sometimes in children under 10). Note the growing number of obese
children in America. This is partly due to bad diet, constipation and
poor bowel function.
Understanding How the Digestive System Works:
The colon, along with the skin, kidneys and lungs is a major organ for
eliminating bodily waste. The healthy functioning of the colon is
essential for good digestion and proper absorption of nutrients. If we
are to understand the problems that can occur in our bowels...we must
first be aware of how our digestive system functions.
Man is fueled by food. The food you eat is processed through your body
in a miraculous fashion. Actually, your digestive tract is a tube
approximately 28-30 feet long, from your mouth to the source of
elimination.
I. The Mouth
Food first enters the mouth and this is where digestion begins. As you
chew your food, it is mixed with saliva to ease the passage down the
esophagus. Every day your salivary glands produce about three pints of
saliva, containing various digestive ("Amylase") enzymes that begin
breaking down starches. Proper chewing of your food is essential and is
the first step toward healthy digestion. Most people eat too fast and
don't chew their food sufficiently.
When we swallow, the ball of food passes into the esophagus. Here,
powerful waves of muscular contractions squeeze the food down into the
stomach. This squeezing, propelling action is called "peristalsis".
Peristaltic action also occurs in your stomach and colon.
II. The Stomach
The next stop for your food is your stomach. The stomach is the
gatekeeper on 24-hour duty. Its principal role is that of a storage tank
where food can be kept until the small intestine is ready to receive it.
The adult stomach can hold up to two and a half pints. The gastric
juices in the stomach start the breakdown of the proteins in the food
and kill contaminating bacteria. The three major components of gastric
juice are: Hydrochloric acid (HCL), digestive enzymes and mucus.
The stomach has three layers of muscle to squeeze, mix and knead its
contents with unusual power. The end result is a thick soupy mixture
called "chime". The stomach, a J-shaped organ about 10 inches long, then
starts to empty its contents into the small intestine. This initial
emptying takes about 15 minutes after you have eaten. A meal remains in
the stomach, however, for as long as four hours. The bigger the meal,
the more rapid the emptying.
The outlet of the stomach is a purse-string valve called the pylorus.
The word pylorus is Latin for "gatekeeper".
III. The Small Bowel (Intestine)
The small intestine is often referred to as the small bowel and the
large intestine is called the large bowel, or colon.
The pyloric sphincter opens and closes to allow food into the upper 10
inches of the small intestine. This area is called the duodenum. It is a
horseshoe-shaped tube in which the hydrochloric acid in the food
arriving from the stomach is neutralized by alkaline digestive juices.
Some of these digestive juices come from the pancreas, some come from
the liver. These intestinal enzymes complete the breakup of food
elements and prepare them for absorption into the lymphatic system and
the portal vein.
The small intestine presents one of the many mysteries of nutrition. It
is here that most of the nutrients in the food are absorbed by the body.
It is called the small intestine not because of its length, but because
of its diameter. It is actually longer than the large intestine (colon),
but the large intestine is much wider.
When the Digestive system isn't functioning properly, stagnating waste
from the food accumulates, producing toxins and perhaps damaging
intestinal walls. This disables our body's ability to absorb nutrients,
making bowel movements more difficult.
THE ABSORPTION PROCESS - The "villi", fingerlike tentacles that line the
inner intestinal walls, look like the pile of a carpet. These sensitive
villi, about 1/25 of an inch long, are the instruments of the absorption
process. A square inch of intestines holds about 3500 densely packed
villi. The villi are your friends as long as you treat them right. But
start loading them up with the wrong kinds of foods (which will be
discussed in a moment), and they will tell you about it in no uncertain
terms. The villi will become villains because of your mistreatment.
ON GUARD DUTY - Once absorption of the valuable nutrients takes place, a
water mix containing mainly fibrous waste, indigestible cellulose and
other unwanted products, remains. This now passes through the ileocecal
valve. This valve is like a watchman. Its duty is to keep food material
from re-entering the small intestine. It is located just above the
appendix area in the lower right part of the abdomen. This flap of
tissue opens to allow the unwanted products to pass to the colon, and
then it closes.
IV: The Large Bowel (Intestine)
The colon (large bowel/intestine) is about five feet long.
It has four basic functions:
. Reabsorbs excessive water from stool.
. Excretion of some poisons and waste products from the blood.
. Fermentation of some food residues by bacteria.
. Storage of waste products along with bacteria and intestinal gas,
until time of elimination.
The colon is divided into three sections:
. The ascending colon is the first part of the large intestine.
. The transverse colon runs horizontally across the abdomen.
. The descending segment of the colon runs vertically down on the left
side connecting to the anal canal. Putrefying bacteria are found in this
lower part of the colon.
No digestive enzymes are secreted in the colon, but an alkaline fluid
aids in the completion of the digestion process begun in the small
intestine. The contents of the colon are gradually dehydrated until they
assume the consistency of normal feces or even become quite hard. The
large intestine can store considerable amounts of fecal matter (that
which you eliminate through a bowel movement).
Billions of bacteria live in the large intestine. Each person should
have a ratio of 80% Flora or "good" bacteria to 20% "bad': These
bacteria help disintegrate the fibers and cellulose of vegetable foods.
The protein residue undergoes certain putrefactive changes. When one has
a bowel movement, there is a continual loss of these bacteria into the
feces.
When this putrefaction takes place, a number of toxic by-products are
released. In a healthy individual these poisons would be counteracted by
the action of good bacteria in the colon or rendered harmless by the
liver. If these toxic by-products are not promptly neutralized, they can
be damaging to the body, and illness will begin!
V. The Final Stop
Gentle, wavelike contractions (peristalsis, once again) ultimately move
the contents of the bowel halfway around the colon. Eventually, it is
carried to the end portion of the colon (the lower eight to ten inches)
into the rectum. At the end of the rectum is the anal canal. The anal
canal is about two inches long and ends at the anus. The anus has both
internal and external muscles which can control the movement of the
bowels.
In a healthy individual the stool, when eliminated, should be
well-formed and brownish in color. The appearance of the stool or bowel
movement can reflect one's state of health. Feces (stool) smell worse on
a meat diet; less on a vegetable diet. Intestinal gases vary in their
potency of odor. Intestinal gases are a mixture of swallowed air and
gases produced by intestinal bacteria.
The stool can also reflect a great deal about our eating and living
habits and whether our digestive organs are functioning efficiently.
Colon Management - The Proper Care
Dr. Jensen states in his book, "Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel
Management":
"I believe that when the bowel is under-active, toxic wastes are more
likely to be absorbed through the bowel wall and into the bloodstream,
from which they become deposited into the tissues. If any elimination
system is under-active, more wastes are retained in the body. As toxins
accumulate in the tissues, increasing degrees of cell destruction take
place. The digestion becomes poor and partially digested material adds
to the problem because the body cannot make good tissue out of
half-digested nutrients."
We find that the food situation today has contributed most heavily to
the imbalances in peoples' bodies and their inability to maintain good
digestion and regularity.
Although the best diet is still one of "whole foods" - high fiber foods
such as grains, legumes, vegetables and fruit - the way we grow,
harvest, process and market our food today is at the root of many of our
health problems. Processed, cooked, dried, roasted, burned, chemicalized,
embalmed, preserved foods don't react well in the human body.
As a result of our poor food conditions, our bodies are not able to get
the proper nutrition. Food grown on poor soil does not have all the
vitamins, minerals and enzymes necessary for good health.
USDA HIGHEST FIBER SOURCES:
FRUIT: Apples, Plums, Peaches, Nectarines, Tomato; VEGETABLES: Spinach,
Carrots, Celery, Broccoli, Kale, Cabbage; OTHER: Beans, Grains, Lentils,
Flax, Nuts, Sweet potato.
People are growing up with shortages in their nutritional balance.
These shortages produce aberrations in body chemistry which reflect in
disease, illness and unbalanced mental states.
Additionally, processed foods including dairy, sugar and white flour are
notoriously lacking in fiber and bulk. They tend to be dry, goopy,
sticky and pasty. They do not do well in making the transit in the
bowel. A constant diet of this kind of food puts one upon the path to
disease.
Many health experts believe that this American way of eating has
contributed more to age-related cardiovascular conditions, insulin
problems, joint and other ailments for baby boomers and pre-baby boomers
than at any previous time in history.
Symptoms such as lack of energy, tiredness, irritability, restlessness,
intolerance, quarrelsomeness, fatigue, lack of endurance and increasing
frequency of illness are all products of the things we are discussing
herein.
Conclusion
It must be remembered that a dirty, polluted, toxic colon backs up the
poisons in the liver, gallbladder, and other organs - into the blood and
lymph system; into the body tissues and ultimately into the cells. If
this is the case, and it is for the great majority of Americans living
the typical American lifestyle and eating the typical American diet,
eventually disease (possibly even cancer) will break out in some part of
the body.
It therefore stands to reason that if one can detoxify or cleanse the
colon and keep it clean through a systematic program of good diet and
nUtrition; regular elimination (i.e. 2-3 times per day), and a number of
detoxification techniques designed to help manage the colon, a person
can ultimately clean up their body, return it to good health, and slow
the aging process to extend their life.
The good news is... We can reverse and make amends for what has happened
in the past. There are excellent natural, safe options to prescription
and traditional store-bought laxatives. In fact, with regular use,
homeopathic and herbal supplements and remedies can enhance your overall
health.
We often think of setting some money aside for our own elder care if
there should come a time. But a part of it might be better invested in
making sure we aren't sparing ourselves the healthiest foods and
supplements for our bodies. It could mean the difference between a
lively, active retirement or becoming dependent on medication and
nursing facilities later in life.

Practical Considerations -
Colon Cleansing, "Friendly" Flora and Fiber Supplementation
In cases where regular bowel movements are a challenge or elimination
requires "effort': you can accelerate the body's health with a 30 day
cycle of gentle cleansing. Based on the level of cleansing needed, this
can be repeated up to three cycles for maximum benefit.
Vaxa Colon-Aid+ does an excellent job of removing years of debris that
have been trapped in the colon. It is extremely gentle, safe, natural,
easy to use by oral capsule and without laxative-type side effects. It
will not disrupt your daily schedule.
Colon-Aid+ can help cleanse the lower gastrointestinal tract, inhibit
adhesion of disease cells, help reduce intestinal bloating, repair tract
tears and lesions, help accelerate gastric ulcer healing, and help to
restore natural peristaltic action.
Remember that while colon cleansing eliminates feces and waste material
that have been in the body a long time, this stored waste contained
thousands of beneficial Flora that kept those material toxins from
harming the body. It can take a long time to repopulate the amount of
Flora needed to restore that protection. It is a good idea to
reflorinate the body during cleansing with ReFlora+, the only
homeopathic formula that fosters rejuvenation of the intestinal tract
and digestive system. With 4.8 billion live probiotic Flora in each
dose, your body will know the difference.
Ask The Expert
In response to the many questions we've received, we added this section
to share the answers to common issues many of us face. Several experts
and medical professionals have been consulted.
Q: Does Exercising help the Digestive System?
A: Exercise is absolutely beneficial regarding all bodily systems and
very important to Improving colon health. Exercise is known to improve
circulation, blood flow and increase oxygenation throughout the
gastrointestinal system. It's of utmost importance in managing stress
and enhancing our overall emotional state as it helps the brain release
endorphins (natural morphine-like substances) that can lead to feeling
happy.
It has been discovered that the bowel wall has a mind of its own,
actually containing the same receptors as the brain, and undergoes
similar neurological processes. The bowel makes decisions regarding
absorption and mobility, many times based upon our emotional state. So a
regular exercise program offers both physical and mental benefits.
Q: Are colonoscopies really important every few years, even if I feel
fine?
A: Not everyone needs to be tested for precancerous polyps and colon
cancer. Your need for screening depends on your level of risk. Several
major factors determine risk according to the American College of
Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy:
1. AGE: If you are 50 or older with no additional risk factors, you're
considered at average risk for colon cancer: about 1 in 17. A
colonoscopy is recommended every 10 years for those in this category.
2. GENETICS: If a close family member - parent, sibling or child - has
had the disease, begin regular screening tests at age 40.
3. PREVIOUS CONDITION: If you've had colon cancer or precancerous polyps
before, you should have a colonoscopy every three to five years.
Q: Why can headaches result from infrequent bowel movements?
A: When constipation occurs, the amount of time between eating a meal
and elimination is greatly reduced. This can lead to what is called
"autointoxication" - a form of self-blood poisoning which causes
multiple symptoms and a wide range of disorders including headaches. So,
if you suffer from frequent headaches and you have a history of poor
digestion, irregularity and constipation there could be a direct
correlation, as the toxins from food and its digestive by-products enter
the bloodstream and build in the tissues of the body. Many times
headaches are a direct result of the body being too toxic. This can
serve as another reason to exercise, as "exercise detoxifies" !
ONLY YOU can prevent colon cancer and protect yourself from this
debilitating and emaciating condition.
